Mistletoe Magic Looking for Artists and Musicians
to Bring Holiday Spirit to Event Batavia, IL: Downtown Batavia will be lit up with holiday cheer at the December 7th Mistletoe Magic from 5-9 p.m. Batavia MainStreet is looking for area artists to display their work and musicians to perform holiday songs at downtown locations during the event. The holiday open house is centered around the bi-monthly arts walk and includes musicians, special sales, a free Santa photo and a scavenger hunt. Local choral groups, instrumental groups and individuals are encouraged to participate and should contact the MainStreet office at 630-761-3528 or email britta@downtownbatavia.com. Also part of Mistletoe Magic is The Batavia Depot Museum’s Yule Log Scavenger Hunt that takes place starting between 6:30 an 7:00 p.m. and ending with the traditional burning of the Yule Log. The Yule Log Scavenger Hunt kicks off at the Batavia Depot Museum with teams given a series of clues that ultimately lead to the hidden Yule Log. Clues may be historic, poetry or involve actions to be performed by the team in order to secure the next clue en route to finding the Yule Log. The hunt ends with an activity, refreshments and the traditional burning of the Yule Log. Pre-registration is encouraged for planning purposes. The Yule Log is an ancient symbol of the Holiday season and families or groups are encouraged to sign up for the event by pre-registering with the Batavia Park District at 630-879-5235 or online at bataviaparks.org. The Batavia MainStreet program is one of 70 not-for-profit, community based organizations in the state of Illinois. The mission of Batavia MainStreet is to enhance the identity of Batavia’s downtown area as the heart of our community.
