21 Bird Houses on Sale to Benefit ReUseIt Center 03-14-2006 Batavia, IL: Bird houses build by Boy Scouts and volunteers from Holy Cross Troop 21 (Batavia) to benefit the ReUseIt Center are now on sale. Two MainStreet businesses and The ReUseIt Center, located at 1530 Hubbard Avenue in Batavia are selling the birdhouses for $15 each. Birdhouses are now available for sale at Foltos Tonsorial Parlor at 7 E. Wilson St. and Twice is Nice at 4 E. Wilson St. through April 15th. MainStreet Director Britta McKenna comments, “This project was a great way for our Boy Scouts in Troop 21 to use their skills and service to benefit a worthy community organization and have MainStreet help sell their works of art.” Each birdhouse is signed on the bottom by the builder and painter. ReUseit Center brings a new concept in home improvement to the Fox Valley. Merchandise is a combination of new, surplus, and/or gently-used building materials, donated by local suppliers, builders and remodelers as well as homeowners. ReUseIt Center sells all these materials at substantial discounts to the general public. 100% of the profit goes back into the Tri-Cities community, and allows Mid-Valley Neighborhood Improvement Association, Inc. to help low-income homeowners make emergency repairs to their homes. By supporting ReUseIt Center, patrons help support existing affordable housing in Batavia, Geneva and St. Charles, and contribute to the vitality of our neighborhoods as well as helping to keep tons of building materials out of the landfills! More information about the ReUseIt Center can be found at www.reuseitcenter.org or by calling (630) 761-4240. The Batavia MainStreet Program is one of 63 not-for-profit, community based organizations in the state of Illinois. The mission of Batavia MainStreet is to enhance the identity of Batavia’s downtown area as the heart of our community. MainStreet members work through the four points: Design, Economic Restructuring, Organization and Promotion to improve the downtown district.
