Batavia, IL: Batavia MainStreet held its Annual Meeting on Thursday May 15th and announced the election of two new board members and two re-elected. New board members include: Sue Heidelberg (Sue's Family Hair Co) and Dennis Miller (DJM Travel) to three-year terms. Returning board members re-elected to the board include: David Anderson (Anderson Advertising Design) for a three-year term and Sharon Mitchell (Harris, N.A.) for a three year term. Britta McKenna, Executive Director thanked outgoing board members Sharon Harwick, Michaelynn Rose, Jeff Swim, and Jennifer Warta for their service and presented them with a MainStreet appreciation engraved brick.
The first meeting of the 2008-09 board took place on Friday June 6 and began by electing officers. The 2008-09 MainStreet Board President is David Anderson (Anderson Advertising Design), Vice President is Sharon Mitchell (Harris, N.A.), Treasurer is Vicki Mitchell (Batavia Resident), and Secretary is Lisa Clark (Batavia City Council). Returning board members include: Ashley Dempsey (Batavia Enterprises), Mike Kluber (Kluber Skahan & Associates), Jeff Matter (Music Matters), and John Tilmon (MSC Services Corp). Ex-Officio member includes: Randy Recklaus (City of Batavia).
The Batavia MainStreet Program is one of 69 not-for-profit, community based organizations in the state of Illinois. The mission of Batavia MainStreet is to enhance the identity of Batavia's downtown area as the heart of our community. MainStreet members work through the four points: Design, Economic Restructuring, Organization and Promotion to improve the downtown district. MainStreet volunteers believe the revitalization of Downtown Batavia is essential to our community's sense of pride, place, and heritage for this and future generations.
