MAINSTREET PRESENTS DOWNTOWN BATAVIA BLOCK PARTY SUNDAY SEPTEMBER 5TH

 

Batavia, IL:  Batavia MainStreet invites everyone to celebrate Labor Day weekend downtown on Sunday September 5th at the 3rd Annual Downtown Batavia Block Party (formerly called ‘The Bridge Bash’). The event takes place in downtown Batavia and features the “Best of Batavia” $2 food samplers at participating restaurants, live entertainment at the corner of N. River Street and Wilson, an art auction and a 1st Anniversary Open House of Urban Style (3 E Wilson St).  The Wilson Street bridge remains open for the event, but N. River Street closes at 2 pm until 11 pm from Wilson Street to State Street on September 5th.

The following 10 downtown Batavia restaurants are participating in the $2 “Best of Batavia” sampling:

Batavia Creamery (4 N. Island Ave) – single scoop of ice cream

Bulldogs (32 N. Island Ave) – mini Italian beef sandwich

Daddio’s Diner (134 W Wilson St) – Bulldog bites (mini cheeseburgers), sloppy Joes, BBQ turkey sandwich or cheese fries

El Taco Grande (6 N. River St) – ground beef taco (hard or soft shell)

Fox’s on the River – (12 N. River St) - pizza slice, 2 rib bones or mini bundle sandwich

Limestone Coffee & Tea (15 E Wilson St) Double Cappuccino & mini scone or 8oz Raspberry      

                     Lemonade & Cookie or 2 x 8 oz iced vanilla lattes

McDonald’s (125 W Wilson St) – medium smoothie, Big Mac or medium frappe (caramel or mocha)

O’Brien’s Pub & Grill (12 N. River St) – Harp’s battered deep fried Cod – tasting filet w/ cole slaw

The RendezVu Restaurant (3 E Wilson St) – country fried chicken slider

Tusk Thai (102 N. River St) – Pad Thai veg., chicken potstickers or Thai iced tea or coffee

 

There are no tickets to purchase for the “Best of Batavia” $2 food tastings.  Cash is accepted at each of the participating restaurant locations.  Britta McKenna, event organizer comments, “Families are encouraged to stroll the downtown enjoying the various tastes of our downtown and enjoy the live entertainment at the North River Street block party to celebrate the end of a great summer.”  A new addition to this year’s street fest is the live auction of the Art in Your Eye Miniatures.  The miniatures will be on display at the Batavia MainStreet tent on N. River Street from 5-8 pm and auctioned off at 8 am to the highest bidder.  Bidding starts at the highest silent bid and is awarded that evening.  Proceeds of the auction go to ‘Art in Your Eye’ in support of the fine arts festival.

Live Entertainment begins at 5 pm and runs until 10 pm at the N. River Street stage.  Special thanks to sponsor Catom Trucking for providing the flatbed, the Batavia Park District and Boyce Body Werks.  The entertainment schedule includes:

5:00 pm - “LightSpeak”

6:00 pm  - Batavia Academy of Dance – street dancing

6:30 pm - “Field Day” (set 1)

8:00 pm - Art in Your Eye Miniatures Live Auction

8:30 – 10 pm - “Field Day”
