BATAVIA MAINSTREET ANNOUNCES
2010 BATAVIA FARMERS’ MARKET REGISTRATION
Batavia, IL: Batavia MainStreet announces that registration for the 2010 Batavia Farmers’ Market is open. The Market runs for 17 weeks on Saturdays from 8 am – Noon June 26th through October 16th. The Market is again located on S. Water Street between First and Wilson Streets in downtown Batavia. MainStreet Executive Director Britta McKenna comments, “MainStreet conducted a Market census last September and found that an average of 1,000 patrons visited the Market weekly.” McKenna adds, “The growth of the market in recent years is tremendous and we are anticipating another great season ahead.”
The 2010 Batavia Farmers’ Market application and handbook is available to interested vendors and may be obtained either online at www.downtownbatavia.com or by phoning the MainStreet office at (630)761-3528. The application is broken down to three different types of vendors: seasonal agricultural growers (double space), seasonal local vendors (single space) and weekly vendors (single space). Seasonal agricultural space is $195 for a single space and $295 for a double space and is located on the north end of the market; returning farmers secure their same spot as the 2009 season by sending in Market application and payment by May 1, 2010. Weekly rates for vendors for a single space (10’x10’) remain at $20 per week. All vendors must complete the application prior to their first day at the Market and are subject to approval by the market manager and MainStreet.
The Market is organized by Batavia MainStreet with the assistance of weekly volunteers and a paid market manager. Anyone interested in volunteering for a shift (3 hours once a month, 4x for the season) is encouraged to call the MainStreet office at (630)761-3528 or email email@example.com.
