The Headless Horseman Haunts the Albright Theatre

Family-Friendly Production Part of Batavia’s Batfest

BATAVIA, Ill. (October 6, 2009) — The Albright Theatre gets into the Halloween “spirit” with their annual children’s production of The Legend of Sleepy Hollow. The play is one of the highlights of Batfest, the annual fall festival sponsored by Batavia Mainstreet.

The Legend of Sleepy Hollow, based on the classic short story by Washington Irving, tells the tale of  superstitious schoolmaster Ichabod Crane, who arrives in the haunted village of Sleepy Hollow and competes with rough-and-tumble local hero Brom Bones for the hand of the beautiful Katrina Van Tassel, until his fateful encounter with the legendary Headless Horseman.

“I am very excited to be directing this show. I performed in the Albright Theatre’s first production of The Legend of Sleepy Hollow almost 6 years ago, and now it’s come full circle,” says director J.P. Quirk. “The cast is amazing. They jumped in and have put together a great show. I couldn’t be happier!”

Eric Poulos of Aurora takes on the role of Ichabod Crane, Tim Borneman (Yorkville) plays Brom Bones and Hannah Krusinger (Naperville) is Katrina Van Tassel. Erin Cauley (St. Charles), John Witt (Aurora), Amanda Johnson (Aurora), Anna Masini (Batavia), Maggie Dietz (Villa Park), Max Micheli (Batavia), Laura Beitler (Batavia), and Brian Witt (Aurora) fill out the cast.

The Legend of Sleepy Hollow will run October 16, 17, 23 and 24.  Performance times will be: Fridays at 7:30 p.m. and Saturdays at 2:30 and 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $7.00 for adults and $5.00 for students and seniors. Reservations are strongly recommended for these performances. For reservations, call 630-406-8838. For more information, visit www.albrighttheatre.com.
