BATAVIA MAINSTREET HOUSE WALK TICKETS NOW ON SALE

 

Batavia, IL:  Tickets are now on sale for the 2009 Batavia House Walk presented by Batavia MainStreet.  The walk is on Saturday September 26th from 10 am to 4 pm and features five homes plus a tea at the Old Louise White School. Presale tickets are $25 each and may be purchased online at www.downtownbatavia.com or in person at: Bee-Attitudes Antiques (9 S Batavia Ave.), Sue’s Family Hair Co., (139 S Batavia Ave), K. Hollis Jewelers (147 S Randall Rd), Limestone Coffee & Tea (15 E Wilson St). and Gibby’s Wine Den in Geneva (1772 S Randall Rd) as well as the Batavia MainStreet office (4 ½ W Wilson St., downstairs). The program is the ticket this year to avoid having to turn in a ticket for a program the day of the walk. Programs, if available are $30 day of the event.  The House Walk is sponsored by Harris, N.A. and Gibby’s Wine Den and benefits Batavia MainStreet and efforts to revitalize downtown Batavia.

The 3rd Annual Walk’s theme is “The Art of Living in Batavia,” and features five unique Batavia housing styles. The five home themes include “The Art of Custom,” “The Art of Quilting,” “The Art of Fashion,” “The Art of Folk,” and “The Art of Interior Design.”  Housing styles range from prairie-style to English Victorian style cottage.  Gibby’s Wine Den is hosting the tea, which features artists from the new Water Street Studios.  House Walk Chair Sharon Harwick invites everyone to this year’s walk, “Our committee has done a wonderful job of finding unique homes that showcase Batavia’s ‘Art of Living’ and diverse housing stock.”

House Walk patrons are also invited to four Open Houses that are part of the event.  Bee-Attitudes Antiques (Rt. 31 & Wilson St) is hosting refreshments and sales up to 40% off from 10 am – 5 pm.  Eclectibles (3 Webster St) is also hosting refreshments and house walk sales and a third Batavia location, Water Street Studios, (160 S. Water St) is hosting an Open House from 2-5 pm to showcase their new location and local artwork.  The Past and Present Shoppes (4 N. Grant St. on the bridge in N. Aurora) is also hosting an Open House from 4-6 pm with wine and cheese to entice house walkers down the river.

            More information about the Batavia House Walk is available at www.bataviahousewalk.com.  Ticket holders or those wishing to purchase tickets on the day of the walk, Saturday September 26th, should go directly to the Old Louise White School at (24 N. Washington Ave) to purchase them, parking across the street at the public lot by the old First Baptist Church.            

The Batavia MainStreet Program is one of 55 not-for-profit, community based organizations in the state of Illinois.
