BATAVIA MAINSTREET ANNOUNCES 2009-10 BOARD AND OFFICERS

 

Batavia, IL:  Batavia MainStreet held its Annual Meeting on Thursday May 21st and announced the election of two new board members and one re-elected.  New board members include:  Dr. Jennifer Echert (Berkanaway) and Rob Hollis (K. Hollis Jewelers/In-Touch 365) to three-year terms.  Re-elected to the board is Mike Kluber (KS&A). Executive Director, Britta McKenna thanked outgoing board members Sue Heidelberg (Sue’s Family Hair Co.) and Jeff Matter (Music Matters) for their service and presented them with a MainStreet appreciation engraved brick:

The first meeting of the 2009-10 board took place on Thursday June 4th at the Batavia MainStreet office and began by electing officers.  The 2009-10 MainStreet Board President is Sharon Mitchell (Harris, N.A.), Vice President is Ashley Hicks (Batavia Enterprises), Treasurer is Vicki Mitchell (Batavia resident), and Secretary is Lisa Clark (Batavia City Council).  Past President is David Anderson (Anderson Advertising Design). Returning board members include:  Jan Gibson (Batavia resident), Grant Markuson (Markuson Law Group, LLC), Randy Recklaus (City of Batavia) and John Tilmon (Batavia resident).

The Batavia MainStreet Program is one of 67 not-for-profit, community based organizations in the state of Illinois. The mission of Batavia MainStreet is to enhance the identity of Batavia’s downtown area as the heart of our community.  MainStreet members work through the four points:  Design, Economic Restructuring, Organization and Promotion to improve the downtown district.  MainStreet volunteers believe the revitalization of Downtown Batavia is essential to our community’s sense of pride, place, and heritage for this and future generations.
